I have wanted to create a garden for quite some time, as it is much cheaper to grow your own fruits and veggies than it is to buy them at the store, and you always have them available when you need them, no last minute dashes to the store for that tomato! Building a DIY wood garden planter has been on my to-do list for this purpose. Unfortunately, other projects have taken priority, as often happens with projects!
I had a little extra time on my hands, so I thought I would at least start the process by researching some ideas for DIY wood garden planters. All I can say is WOW! There are some amazing planters out there and some very creative people! Most of these look like they are definitely buildable by the average DIYer (except maybe one of them, which may be a little trickier than the rest! 😉 ).
Here are some planters I found that were definite possibilities for my future garden. Hopefully this will give you some inspiration for building planters for your garden as well:
1. Raised Garden Bed with Separate Sections

I really like the fact that this one has separate sections included in the build to make it easy to keep all your fruits and veggies separated and easily identifiable! Also love the two tiered look!
2. Cedar Raised Garden Beds (Ana White plans)

I love that this one looks very simple to build, but yet it does have some molding and design to it instead of just being a rectangular box.
3. DIY Raised Garden Planter Boxes

This one also looks fairly simple to build, but has a nice top border to give it a nice, clean design
4. Elevated garden bed

I love how this one is tall so you don’t have to bend down to plant or pick fruits and veggies.
5. Dynamic Raised Garden Bed

I love the U-shaped look of this one, and I really like the trellis on the back.
6. Raised Garden Bed Supermodel

I find this one particularly amazing! I really love how much gardening space exists, and I love the look and design of this one.

Love that this one waters the garden for you!
8. Garden Planter with Trellis

In case you can’t tell, this is THE one I spoke of earlier! 😉 This one looks like a little more work than the others, but definitely doable!
9. Raised planter bed with trellis

I love the bottom of the legs on this one as well as the trellis. This one is a bit small, but very pretty!
10. DIY Wood and Corrugated Metal Planter

Love the mix of wood and metal on this one!

Now I just have to choose which one I want to build, although this will probably be a winter project so I will have the planter ready for next Spring. Which would you build? I would love to have your thoughts and choices in the comments!
